Made in the historic pottery hub of Betschdorf in Alsace, France, this vintage salt-glazed stoneware cup showcases the region's renowned 18th-century ceramic tradition. Made sometime between the 1960s and 1980s, it's decorated with Art Nouveau-inspired botanical motifs, bellflowers rendered in cobalt blue and a deep forest green slip, a departure from the cobalt-only palette of earlier Alsatian stoneware. The greener hue gives the relief work extra depth and dimension. The surface has that signature pebbled grey-blue texture from traditional salt-glazing, where coarse salt is thrown into the kiln during firing. The base is stamped "Véritable Grès au Sel! / Betschdorf / Alsace" along with an artisan's mark. Three are available, each sold separately.
