Add a touch of Parisian history to your home with this vintage Limoges porcelain dish, made by L. Bernardaud & Cie for Au Bon Marché (today's Le Bon Marché), the famous Paris department store.
Established in 1838 and significantly expanded in 1852 under Aristide Boucicaut, the store first operated as Au Bon Marché (“At the Good Deal”) and is widely credited as a pioneer of the modern department store. It kept that name for more than a century, until 1989, when the luxury group LVMH rebranded it as Le Bon Marché (“The Good Deal”) as part of its shift toward an exclusive luxury destination.
Produced in the early 1950s, this piece features Bernardaud’s celebrated “Pâte Vert d’Eau”, a soft sea-foam green porcelain body. Custom souvenirs and trinket dishes like this one were made for the store and sold to stylish locals and well-traveled tourists alike.
Use it as a jewelry or trinket dish on a vanity, set it out on a coffee table, or add it to a porcelain collection. It’s a delightful conversation starter and a stylish nod to midcentury Parisian design.
