This midcentury Italian porcelain match holder signed "Corsi A." and inscribed "Designed Specially for J.B. Hirsch Co." on the base, was hand-painted in Italy during the 1960s for the prominent New York importer J.B. Hirsch Co., which specialized in bringing fine European decorative arts to American high-end markets. Although J.B. Hirsch imports are well-known, finding a piece with this particular "Corsi A." signature is a rarity. Originally created as a luxury tabletop match holder, its Neoclassical and Rococo-inspired craftsmanship makes it a fetching miniature vase for your nightstand, too!
