Crafted at the historic Henriot faience works in Locmaria, where Breton pottery traditions date back to 1690, this hand-painted trivet showcases the classic Petit Breton figure with his walking cane framed by a lush floral wreath. Quimper’s pottery legacy expanded through the centuries, with Henriot emerging as one of its premiere manufactories. Following a 1922 trademark dispute with rival studio HB, Henriot adopted the signature "Henriot Quimper France." This piece features the distinct handwritten mark on the reverse, with a capital “R” in “HenRiot,” a spelling characteristically linked to the early 1920s. Designed for tabletop protection with four molded corner feet, these playful folk art pieces were widely cherished both locally and exported internationally. Predating Henriot’s 1968 merger with HB, it is a quintessential example of early 20th-century French regional faience.
