Nothing compliments a sideboard like some antique English wares!
This Derby cream jug dates from the early 19th century, specifically the period known as the Bloor Derby era (c. 1815-1848). This was a time when the factory, under the management of Robert Bloor, specialized in highly decorated and gilded pieces, often with a sumptuous color palette and elaborate design.
Produced by the Derby Porcelain manufactory in England, the Derby factory, later known as Royal Crown Derby, was one of the most important and prestigious porcelain makers in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Our cream jug is elegant in form, with a distinctive curved handle and a graceful spout. The jug is in excellent condition with its gilding largely intact. Its naturalistic polychrome floral sprays were a popular form of decoration on Derby porcelain, gaining popularity in the late 1820s and remaining relevant to this day.
