TASTEMAKER TUESDAY: ALI GRACE

What pieces and/or designers in your closet do you find yourself wearing again and again?

I find myself always wearing denim and leather jackets. My wardrobe is predominantly composed of black and navy. I find that this allows me to mix and match a lot of my pieces. A dark garment also provides a great canvas for my jewelry. Alexander Wang and Helmut Lang are two of my favorite designers that I find myself wearing season after season. 

REFUEL

Favorite dining spots? 

Buvette in the West Village is one of my favorites. All of the dishes are really simple and delicious. For a night out, I love dining at Lafayette. Their duck au poivre is one of my favorites in the city. I also enjoy dinner and drinks at Extra Fancy in Williamsburg. 

RELAX 

Where in the world do you travel to for peace of mind? 

Bali. I traveled to this magical island in Indonesia and it changed my life. Bali is beyond gorgeous and is my favorite place that I have ever been to. While I was there, I relaxed on breathtaking beaches, explored the rice paddies in Ubud, practiced yoga and took tons of inspiration pictures for my jewelry.

Currently, I’m reading Patti Smith’s M Train. 

RUN

Workout regimen? 

Exercise is an integral part of my everyday routine. It allows me to clear my mind and have time away from the chaos of running my own business. I enjoy practicing yoga and going to spin classes.

RITUALS 

Any beauty rituals you swear by?

I swear by applying a serum and moisturizer on my face twice a day. Also, always remove make-up before bedtime. 

REPEAT 

What music are you currently listening to?

I love rock ’n’ roll. I’m a huge fan of Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and David Bowie. While I predominately listen to rock 'n’ roll, it’s always nice to wind down the day and listen to London Grammar and The xx.  

REMARQUE 

Any art galleries you frequent? Who is hanging on your walls?

Living in New York City, I find myself wandering the various art galleries in Chelsea and Soho. I particularly like the Gagosian. New York City has so much to offer; it’s important to take advantage of all the art and culture. Two of my favorite pieces in my collection are an abstract painting by Alison Mosshart and a photograph of Keith Richards by Ethan Russell.

REFRESHMENT 

Go-to libation?

Tequila with fresh grapefruit, sparkling water, lime and sugar on the rim. Also, whiskey sours.

What film could you watch over and over?

The Nightmare Before Christmas 

RETRO 

Most coveted decade for fashion? In which time period would you have lived, and how does it inspire your way of dressing?  

I am happy in this current decade. I love that designers are creating designs that are effortlessly chic and edgy at the same time. Some of my favorites who embody this way of designing are Alexander Wang, The Row and Rick Owens.
