Fulham Pottery, no newcomers themselves, tracing their roots back to 1671, crafted this terracotta showstopper in 1988 to help Christian Brann Ltd throw itself a proper 21st birthday party.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe bowl borrows its shape from an ancient krater, the vessel the Greeks and Romans once used to mix wine at their parties. Its unglazed clay exterior is wrapped in black silhouette figures straight out of antiquity, with a ring of Latin text circling the base.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFlip past the ancient-world exterior, though, and the interior tells a different story: a glossy white glaze, a school of stylized fish swimming at the center, all boxed in by a crisp Greek key border and a garland of leaves tracing the rim.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOnly 600 of these were ever made, each one stamped on the bottom with Fulham Pottery's own seal of approval.
